The Conquerors (1932 film)
''The Conquerors'' is a 1932 American pre-Code Western film starring Richard Dix and Ann Harding, and directed by William A. Wellman. A young couple move to the American West and build a banking empire.
== Plot ==
Caroline Ogden (Ann Harding) and Roger Standish (Richard Dix) are in love and plan on marrying. One evening her father finds them in the garden kissing and tells Caroline that she is not marrying Standish and that Standish is fired from his job at the bank where Mr. Ogden is president. The couple, still in love, go their separate ways. A stock market crash results in the death of Mr. Ogden and the loss of the Ogden fortune. Caroline and Roger, reunite, get married and head west to start a new life together. While traveling on river craft the couple is robbed and Roger is shot. Taken to a nearby town to recover they decide to start a bank in the struggling town and take the first steps on building a banking empire in a growing America.
